National Intern – SHIFT HCMC

The project “Shifting Investment Flows Towards Green Transformation” (SHIFT) is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) as part of Germany’s International Climate Initiative (IKI). It has the objective to improve green policy and investment frameworks for enhanced climate action in Viet Nam, especially in the energy sector. The Ministry of Finance (MOF) is SHIFT’s project management agency, and the Department for Sector Finance and Economics (DSFE) is the project owner.

 

The other ministry participating in the project is the State Bank of Viet Nam (SBV). The Project is implemented by a consortium of six partner organizations, with GIZ as consortium lead. The other implementing consortium partners are Agora Energiewende (Agora), Banking Academy of Viet Nam (BAV), International Finance Corporation (IFC), Netherlands Development Organization (SNV) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

 

The SHIFT project is inter-disciplinary and inter-ministerial. It includes 4 interrelated Components:

 

Component 1: Provide technical assistance and advice to promote an enabling environment and enhance green public as well as private investment

Component 2: Enhance the capacity of relevant government agencies to promote financing and investment for the energy transition in Vietnam

Component 3: Improve the capacity of financial institutions in providing green financial services and implement policies and guidelines on green credit finance

Component 4: Improve the interest and investment capacity of the private sector in green transformation projects, reducing greenhouse gas emissions

 

The project is offering an internship opportunity with details below:

 

National Intern
Office location: Ho Chi Minh City

Duration: Maximum 6 months, starting as soon as possible from October 2026

 

During the internship, the Intern will learn and practice in following topics:

  • Project related activities include desk-based research, data analysis and briefings compiling on relevant topics such as energy efficiency, renewable energy or green transition
  • Project-related documents preparation like presentations and fact sheets
  • Project documents translation and proof-reading (Vietnamese and English)
  • Knowledge management and data management
  • Development and quality control of PR related documents for Linkedln and Facebook
  • Workshops, training and other events preparation and reports
  • Preparation for procurement and contract management
  • Office administrative activities.

 

Requirements:

  • Vietnamese citizen, who is currently undertaking or completed the bachelor/ postgraduate studies within the last six months (upon commencement of the internship); majoring in engineering, economics, sustainable development, international relations or any other subject area relevant to the project topics.
  • Interest in and having basic understanding about the energy sectors, private sectors and/or development cooperation is an asset
  • Structured, well organized and detail-oriented
  • Basic design skills are an asset
  • Experience in facilitating student social clubs or networks is an asset
  • Fluency at spoken and written in Vietnamese and English
  • Good command of office applications (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) & other digital tools
  • Ability to quickly analyse and summarise information
  • Good communication skills and interpersonal skills
